How to Submit Your Work
L.H. Editorial began with a passion for storytelling. The mission is to provide expert editing services tailored to manuscripts, screenplays, and more. The aim is to elevate every piece of writing, ensuring clarity and coherence while retaining the author's unique voice.
I am so excited you have chosen to submit your work! Read on for instructions below on how to properly submit your work, and what the next steps are.
Submission Requirements
Book Manuscripts
Formatting -
Please ensure to submit your work as an editable Microsoft Word Doc.
Your Manuscript should be formatted as; font size point 12, font colour black, A4 page size, font style Times New Roman (or something similar), 1" (2.5cm) margins, double-spaced lines, 0.5" (1.25cm half an inch) paragraph indents.

Why this formatting?
This is industry standard and allows room for editing markings and comments, to be made in margins, below and above lines. If assistance is required for achieving this formatting there are plenty of instructions on how to do this on Google and Youtube. If still struggling or can't source the information feel free to reach out!

Email -
Subject line: Type of work, Title of work, Author Name, Submission (E.g. Book Manuscript_Flowers with Thorns_Suzy Lou_Submission)
Body of email: Please provide a small blurb detailing what your work is about, a tag line for how you would potentially sell your book, one or two lines detailing who your target audience is, what style Edit/Edits you are after, and an ACCURATE word count, as this affects pricing of quote.

Attachments -
The first ten pages and the title page of your work with your contact details, and a document providing a more in depth description of main plot, sub plot and character breakdowns.
Feel free to also add any inspiration boards or material that inspired your work!

THEN SEND THAT EMAIL!
DISCLAIMER: Due to potential, volume of submissions it may take up to 2 weeks to hear back about whether your submission has been successful and accepted to be edited. Will always aim to let you know much earlier but cannot always guarantee.
PLEASE NOTE: No monetary transactions at this stage! The submission stage is purely for assessment to see whether we would be a great fit to collaborate as author and editor.

Submission Process if NOT a Book Manuscript

Email Subject Line: Type of Work, Full Name, Submission (E.g. Screenplay_Lana Hill_Submission)
Body of Email: Provide contact details (Phone, Email), Full name, Introduce yourself and what you need help with, detail what editing services you are inquiring after, please note of any potential deadlines, MUST provide ACCURATE word count as this affects pricing for quote if not a flat rate service.

Attachments - Attach an editable PDf or Microsoft Word document of the work needing editing.
What are the Next Steps?
After submission email has been sent, within two weeks you should hear back from the Editor about whether or not your work has been successful and they believe they are the right editor for you.

A Match!
If deemed a great match for your work, the editor will have completed an assessment on the work. A response email will detail any potential suggestions e.g. you may have only requested a line edit, but the editor will suggest the need for a developmental edit based on the material read so far. The writer will have the right to decline the offer or to accept or add on the extra edit suggestion.
This decision will not effect or change the editor's decision to work with you. She accepted because she is already honoured and excited!
Part of the response email will be an initial quote for the entire work, and what the booking 10% deposit will be to secure the booking, a time frame for when the editor will commence her edit and how long it will take. Part of the attachments will be a contract for her terms of employment to sign.

To ACCEPT quote and book the editor, please reply with the signed contract. If a payment plan is needed, please let the editor know! Once contract is signed, the payment details/link will be sent for the deposit as well as a breakdown of any discussed payment plans.

PLEASE NOTE: It is important to read the contract as it is legally binding, and clearly states all terms and conditions of employing the editor, payment responsibilities, and the expectations for work. Full payment must be received by the editor by the completion of edit.
Failure to meet payment deadlines will incur a late fee or the potential result of immediate halting or cancellation of editing work*

The Editing Process
Once the editor has begun the edit, the writer cannot make any changes or send new drafts/versions of the work. Why? This cancels out potential edits the editor is currently working on, and will cancel out any progress made. The editor will provide progress reports when they can to help ease the writer. However, the completed edit will be sent back as a whole upon completion of the editing process and final payments have been received.

Something to Consider Upon Booking: Book Manuscripts roughly take 6-8 weeks to edit. Why? You are asking for an in-depth professional edit and that takes time. To catch all the minor details and mistakes a manuscript of a 75k word count or more (especially in the industry today we are seeing more than over 100k word counts), you will not receive the same quality of edit back in as little as a couple of days. So when asking about time frames or relaying any potential deadlines, please keep this in mind.
